Concrete Polishing
Concrete floors have long been renowned for their hardiness and durability, but until recently, not for their pleasing aesthetic qualities. Once concrete is polished, it not only becomes denser and stronger, it also becomes more resistant to stain, easier to maintain, and of course, very beautiful to look at. As a result, many customers in retail, warehouse and office facilities are opting for polished concrete as an alternative to traditional tile, linoleum, or coated concrete floors.

We use a primarily mechanical process that is environmentally friendly,  polishing concrete without using coatings, waxes, harmful chemicals, or volatile organic compounds (VOCs).

This allows the concrete to breathe, letting gas and water vapours through, enhancing its look while preventing cracking, flaking or separating—all of which can occur if epoxies or urethane coatings are used on concrete surfaces. This process also makes concrete floors much more resistant to damage that can be caused by various de-icing agents typically used throughout the winter (i.e. salt).

The multi-step process involves grinding concrete surfaces, which is much like sanding wood. Heavy-duty polishing machines equipped with progressively finer grits of diamond-impregnated segments or disks are used to gradually grind down the surface until the desired degree of shine and smoothness is reached. Customers can actually select the level of sheen that best suits their requirements, from matte to high gloss.
